Michael Lajoie: Service and Community Leadership

Welcome back to A Good Pour! Today’s guest is Michael Lajoie—a passionate community leader, Marine veteran, and insurance and investment advisor. Michael’s dedication to serving others shines in every aspect of his life, whether he’s guiding clients, leading Habitat for Humanity projects, or championing local nonprofits.

A Life of Service

Michael’s career spans over 30 years, starting with his insurance agency in Nashville, which he later relocated to Gallatin. Alongside managing his business, he earned his securities license and now also helps clients with financial investments. But for Michael, the thread tying everything together is service.

“It’s all about service,” Michael shared. “Whether in business or volunteering, it’s about helping others. It’s a natural fit for me.”

Community Leadership

Michael is a hands-on leader in Gallatin. From his role as president of the Gallatin Chamber Board of Directors to chairing Habitat for Humanity, his work leaves a lasting impact. Under his leadership, Habitat has seen significant growth, including a milestone project—the first subdivision of nine homes in Sumner County.

Michael attributes Habitat’s success to teamwork: “When you have the right people on the bus, the bus goes to the right place.” His collaborative spirit extends to the Gallatin Chamber’s Station project, which he’s confident will be a game-changer for the community.

The Value of Relationships

Michael emphasized how building genuine relationships is the foundation of his work, both in the community and as an advisor. “If I don’t know you, I can’t make the best recommendations for you,” he said. Whether it’s ensuring families are adequately covered or filling gaps in their plans, Michael’s goal is to protect his clients.

This relational approach is why his agency stands out. “It’s not about being the cheapest—it’s about being there when it matters most,” he explained.

Taking Care of Yourself

When asked how he manages to stay active across so many roles, Michael stressed the importance of self-care. “If you’re not taking care of yourself, you won’t have the energy to give to others,” he said. This perspective fuels his ability to balance his work, volunteerism, and personal life.

Getting Involved

Michael’s passion for inviting others into service is infectious. Whether it’s donating to Toys for Tots, volunteering at Habitat for Humanity, or connecting through the Gallatin Chamber, there’s always a way to contribute.
