Kim Baker on Building “The Station,” Finding Her Voice, and Staying Rooted in Good Work

Some conversations stay with you long after the mics are off. My talk with Kim Baker, President & CEO of the Gallatin Area Chamber of Commerce, was one of those.

When Kim last joined A Good Pour, her vision for The Station — a collaborative business and community space in downtown Gallatin — was still a dream on a Post-it note. This time, we sat inside that dream, surrounded by glass walls, local stories, and a quiet hum of energy that only comes from a space built with purpose.

Dream It. Do It.

Kim smiled as she remembered the early days. “I had a Post-it on my computer that said, ‘If you can dream it, you can do it,’” she said. “And under it, I wrote: Podcast Studio.

That note became more than motivation — it became a blueprint. The Station now houses coworking spaces, meeting rooms, and yes, a podcast studio (the very one where A Good Pour is recorded).

But the journey there wasn’t simple. The Chamber team fundraised, designed, moved offices, and managed daily operations — all at once. “We didn’t pause anything,” Kim said. “If anything, we sped up.”

Now, they host community events, leadership programs, and roundtables under one roof. For the first time, the Chamber can bring people to them — a dream that once felt far away.

A Place with Purpose

The Station has quickly become a landmark in Gallatin — a place where business, faith, and community meet.

“I prayed that the work we do here would glorify God,” Kim shared. “And I specifically prayed for a church to be part of this building.”

That prayer was answered. Gallatin Church now holds services and midweek gatherings inside The Station, joining a mix of tenants that includes local businesses, creatives, and community groups.

Every wall, Kim says, has been prayed over. Literally. Behind the paint, you’ll find Scripture written by community faith leaders — words that remind everyone who enters that this building stands for good work and good purpose.

Telling Gallatin’s Story

At the heart of it all is storytelling. Kim has always believed that stories make the Chamber’s work meaningful — and now, The Station gives businesses a way to tell their own.

The Good Story Studio, sponsored by Good Circle Marketing, was created as a space where anyone can walk in, sit down, and start recording — no fancy setup required. “Not everyone can afford a marketing agency or videographer,” Kim said. “But they still deserve to tell their story.”

That spirit of accessibility — lowering barriers so people can start somewhere — is at the center of everything Kim does. “The hardest part is just getting started,” she said. “After that, you figure it out.”

Staying, Growing, and Shining

Kim’s story isn’t only about leadership — it’s about faith, growth, and finding her voice.

In recent years, she’s spoken openly about her sobriety and the clarity that’s come with it. “I heard three words very clearly: Stop. Stay. Pray.” she said. “I stopped drinking. I stayed in my work. And I prayed for what was next.”

That obedience — to stay where she was called — led to remarkable things. Under Kim’s leadership, the Chamber has grown stronger and more collaborative. She’s also learned to stand firm when criticism comes her way.

“It’s hard to be a voice of good in a world that thrives on seeing the bad,” she said. “But I know why I’m here — to love and lead loudly from where I am.”

Celebrating Life’s Moments

As if leading a thriving Chamber and opening a new building weren’t enough, Kim has launched a personal project that perfectly reflects her joy for celebrating others: Kfetti & Co.

Located in downtown Gallatin, Kfetti & Co. is a boutique party and stationery shop filled with color, creativity, and heart. There’s even a balloon bar and hands-on craft spaces for kids.

“It’s paper, party, and play,” Kim laughed. “I wanted to create something that helps people celebrate both the big and the small moments.”

A Legacy of Good Work

What stands out about Kim isn’t just what she’s built — it’s how she’s built it. With intention. With prayer. With community.

The Station is more than a building; it’s a reflection of her heart for Gallatin — a place where businesses can grow, stories can be told, and faith quietly anchors the work being done.

Kim Baker has proven something powerful: when you stay rooted in purpose, dream boldly, and serve with joy, good work always finds a way to shine.
