Hey friends, it’s Kathryn Good here, and I’m so excited to introduce you to Amy Gleaves, a life coach from Gallatin who’s been changing lives in and far beyond our community. Amy has this incredible way of helping people see the potential in themselves and make real, lasting change. I’ve had the joy of experiencing her wisdom firsthand, and I can’t wait to share her story with you.
Amy’s Early Inspiration: A Spark Lit by Dolly Parton
Amy’s journey into life coaching started way back—before she even knew what life coaching was. At just 12 years old, she was captivated by Dolly Parton’s character in Straight Talk. In the movie, Dolly’s character stumbles into a job at a radio station, offering advice to callers. “I watched it over and over, thinking, ‘I don’t know what it is, but I want to be her,’” Amy says. That early spark of wanting to help people find their way planted the seeds for what would become her life’s work.
Embracing the Power of Life Coaching
For Amy, life coaching isn’t about looking back—it’s about moving forward. She helps people set goals, hold themselves accountable, and push through obstacles. “I have clients as young as 13 and as old as 72,” Amy shares, reminding us that it’s never too early or too late to start living with intention. One of the things I love about her approach is her focus on empowerment. “I don’t like the word victim,” she says. “I believe in helping people create their truths and live by them.”
From Real Estate to Real Transformations
Before diving into life coaching, Amy worked in real estate, where she quickly realized her gift for asking deep questions. She found that many people weren’t following their own dreams but chasing paths laid out by others. That insight became the foundation of her coaching practice: helping people uncover what they truly want in life, not what someone else expects of them. It’s about aligning with your values and passions—and she’s so good at guiding people through that process.
Supporting Single Moms and Nonprofits
Amy’s personal experiences, especially her 10 years as a single mom, have shaped her passion for giving back. She’s particularly dedicated to supporting single mothers, helping them regain custody of their children, and teaching them life skills. “Helping moms create a safe environment for their kids was incredibly rewarding,” she says. Her heart for this work is a reflection of her belief that everyone deserves a safe, supportive space to grow and thrive.
Turning Passion into Profession
Amy’s journey into professional coaching started with a simple nudge from her husband, who suggested she start charging for her coaching services. That little push was all she needed. Now, her sessions are known for transforming lives—helping people go from feeling stuck to discovering their full potential. “Most clients come to me feeling broken,” she explains. “But through our sessions, they realize they’re whole and capable of creating the life they want.” I love how she helps people peel back the layers and reframe their stories to open up new possibilities.
The Art of Listening and Connecting
Amy has this amazing ability to really listen—not just to respond, but to truly hear what someone is saying. That’s at the core of her coaching. “People want to be heard and seen,” she says, and I think we can all relate to that. It’s not just a professional skill for Amy; it’s personal. She beams with pride when she shares a recent moment where her daughter responded to someone’s body language with empathy. “It was a beautiful moment of seeing my teachings in action,” she says.
Encouraging Accountability and Self-Awareness
Amy’s coaching is all about accountability. She believes that taking responsibility for your actions gives you the power to change your life. “When you take accountability, you gain complete power over your life,” she emphasizes. It’s such a simple truth, but it’s so powerful. By helping clients take control of their thoughts and rewrite their stories, Amy empowers them to live authentically.
Transforming Lives, One Session at a Time
The changes Amy sees in her clients are nothing short of amazing. “When they leave my sessions, they speak and act differently,” she observes. That renewed energy and confidence carry them forward as they start to pursue their goals and live lives that feel true to who they are.
A Personal Reflection on Growth
Listening to Amy’s story made me reflect on my own journey—especially as a mom. Watching our kids make choices that will shape their futures is both thrilling and nerve-wracking, isn’t it? Her journey reminds me that as much as we guide them, we’re growing too. It’s a shared process of learning and becoming.
The Power of Listening and Showing Up
One of the biggest takeaways from Amy’s story is the power of truly listening—to yourself and to others. It’s such a gift to offer someone your full attention, to make them feel seen and understood. And showing up authentically is at the heart of living a life that matters. You can’t be everything to everyone, but you can be true to yourself—and that’s what counts.
Embracing Life’s Challenges
Life throws all kinds of challenges our way, but Amy’s story is a great reminder that those challenges are often opportunities in disguise. Shifting your perspective can turn a roadblock into a stepping stone toward something even better.
Finding Balance Between Self-Care and Productivity
We hear a lot about self-care these days, and for good reason. It’s essential. But Amy also reminds us that finding a balance between caring for ourselves and making real progress is key. It’s about making sure you’re not just busy but moving forward in a way that feels meaningful.
The Impact of Small Actions
Amy’s story is all about making a positive impact, one small step at a time. Whether it’s through her coaching or her work with nonprofits, she’s a shining example of how we can all make a difference in the lives of others.
Thanks for joining me in celebrating Amy Gleaves and her incredible work. Her journey is a beautiful reminder that we all have the power to create meaningful change—in our lives and in the world around us. Let’s make today a good day by showing up as our best, most authentic selves!
